Warm spring day? We had light snow, and opened a 2004 Quinta do Crasto LBV.

I haven't been around
much the past couple weeks as I've been in a very intense training class for Advanced Traffic Collision Investigation. Two weeks of Physics and a little Trigonometry with homework most nights kept me very busy to say the least. Friday was the final exam, which took 3.5 hours, but I passed with flying colors (94%) so I opened a couple bottles to celebrate. A
2002 Quinta do Crasto Old Vine Reserva and a 1/2 bottle of a
1990 Niepoort Colheita to celebrate.

Physics and Trig. Yikes, I haven't thought about those subjects for a while! Congrats Andy, those wines were well deserved.

1982 Ramos Pinto LBV - very sweet, almost syrupy; haven't discovered much in the way of distinguished flavour yet, but still looking for it....nothing at all like the 2005 LBV.
2004 Croft LBV - this is the third bottle that I have opened, and the first time that it has really worked for me - tasting great!

On Sunday night, after having dinner with Jeff Ghi and his wife and another friend of theirs in Belem, outside of Lisboa, I invited them back to my hotel room and opened a bottle of 20 year old Tawny Port. I just had one a few days before leaving for Portugal but this one was showing even better and glad to share it with someone else instead of drinking it alone. : ) It was great to finally meet Jeff too!

I'd sound like Beavis & Butt-head if asked a trig question.

A crazy and great night for sure...but I failed to write down the producer of the 1880 Sercial Madeira...Sean who was it?

I opened one of my unknown producer / leaky bottles that I bought in March. Fill level on this one was mid-shoulder. Wax capsule was almost completely gone and this one was actively leaking (meaning a drop or two each day.)
I got about 80% of the cork out intact and pushed the rest into the bottle, then decanted. Powerful fruit filled the room as soon as the cork was out. Color was brick red, starting to go tawny, as were the flavors. Berries mixed with caramel and nuts. This could be a combination of too much access to air coupled with age.
The cork provided no clue as to the producer. The style appears to be a little on the drier side, so my guess on this one is a 1963 Dow. Very nice, in any case.
But who knows ...
