None in the US (that I know of). Got it from Portugal (a place called Portugal Vineyards).

I was hoping The Rare Wine Company would bring it in. It received a lot of great press.

Did you have it shipped to the States from Lisbon?

I had it shipped from Porto... but it took almost two months. Communication was iffy as well. I would pick up at Garrafeirra Nacional the next time you go to Lisbon.

A member of the Sammamish Port Club has used Portugal Vineyards several times and has had no problems. His experience does match Marco's, though, in that it takes quite a while for the wine to arrive and communication is... let's call it sporadic. But his wine has always arrived and has always been in good shape. He says they're also usually a pretty good deal.

No refund from their normal price, so I guess so.

David and I chatted about it briefly, and in doing some research on it I saw both the price and the sugar level and decided that it was probably too dry (and too expensive) for me. 97 g/l sugar is far from a dry wine, but to balance the the acidity of Madeira for my palate I usually want something higher than that. The "Special Lot" 30 Year Old Malvasia that I loved so much at Mannie's dinner in San Francisco is 115 g/l, for example.

Excellent staff, plus shipping to the US is quick and fairly priced. Currently 130€ for 18 bottles to the US.
