I did? I didn't notice that there were other bids when I put mine in. It was a good price!

Maybe I'll get to share it with you at a tasting!
I like that idea Glenn! Been a long time.

Today I got 2 halves of 2011 Graham's VP on sale in Pennsylvania!

Thanks. I was lucky to get some unique and older bottles that I'm looking forward to trying.
I know from what I've read that the '94 Noval is hit or miss, but I'm hoping it's a hit.

I don't recall hearing that about the '94... but the '97 on the other hand is either fantastic or terrible (flawed). There seems to be no in-between, and there are a lot more flawed bottles than there should be. It may not be to '83 Cockburn levels, but it's up there. It's not TCA, it's something else. Strong tar and/or burnt rubber smell that's so strong it invades the palate as well.

So far I've encountered 2 bad bottles and only 1 good bottle. (That I can recall.) It's expensive because it seems pretty rare, so not really worth the risk in my opinion.

It's only rare because the sales guy got carried away and sold it off cheap to the French, leaving the quinta with just 18 bottles. That scarcity then morphed into the idea that it was very special, but I've had it twice and was not impressed. The first bottle had lost a massive amount of colour (it was only about 16/17 years old at the time) and the second was seriously earthy - a problem I've encountered with N91 - and other 91's as well..

I read the comments on TPF about the '94. Some favorable and some not so much.

I have a few bottles of the '97. I opened one a year or two back and although it tasted okay, it clearly wasn't ready, so I probably won't try another one for at least 5 to 7 years.

Down near Trenton, NJ is a modest B&M that Mike J. W. and I frequent. A nice selection--the owner is trying to have a great Port collection to sell. Went by today on my travels and picked up a single bottle of a 2008 Warres LBV.....a new year I have not seen yet. Have seen lots of 2002 & 2003 here and there lately. I was there a month ago and picked up a few of the 2002s...so that's a nice 2 bottle tasting for the NJ Port Boys.

As much as online and auction is the best place to shop---I still love B&Ms. Much more tangible and real.

A 4,5 L Graham's Single Harvest 1990 Lodge Edition..

So now the trio is together.. I do not think I have enough chocolate for all 3 bottles..

But it is always nice to have one bottle for when you are alone, one for when you get guests or one for when you get a lot of guests..ImageImage

5 x 1985 Fonseca
1 x 1987 Taylor Vargellas
1 x 1991 Taylor Vargellas
1 x 1948 Graham

The G48 was expensive, but I still got it for less than what they usually go for. (As proven by the follow-up bottle that was auctioned the next week and sold for 50% more than I paid.) I also tried to get a G45, but that went from $765 to $1502 in the last 40 seconds of the auction.

Yes, you can enjoy that 4.5 l when you are alone, and when you have guests you can open the others, so they don't stick around too long ;-)

1 x 1945 Dow

I didn't expect to get the Dow, but sometimes a lowball bid wins!
