Re: Madeira Tasting in San Francisco - Dec. 2012

Post by Roy Hersh »

I am sorry guys, upon returning from being away for the month of September at the Fair, I returned home for one day ... in time to pack for nearly 3 weeks in Europe. My posts on FTLOP during that time were mostly aimed directly at the activities during the Port Harvest Tour. I have been back two weeks now and sadly, still buried in work for the Fair. Paying all of the invoices (nearly 650 of them) and scrutinizing each line item for approval and price accuracy, etc. Simultaneously, I've been successful in organizing a Guest Corner Host for the Forum for Nov., and a MAJOR buyers opportunity for :ftlop: subscribers in the USA, UK and other parts of Europe for December. In addition, I have been doing my best in coming up with the dates for all three tours, an advertisement for 2013 and crafting the next newsletter.

I must admit that my plate runneth over and had David not reminded me of my offer to organize a Madeira event, I honestly doubt that I'd have remembered to revisit this thread for at least another week or so, at least until the newsletter is completed. So I will humbly apologize, but at this moment in time, I don't think it is going to be possible to pull this together before the end of this year. I know I am letting lots of people down and again, I am truly sorry about my lack of follow up on this! :beat:

IF we still want to go ahead, and move this up to the early part of 2013, I will get my act together and contact a fine restaurant in SF to carry on with the plan. However, again, I can't get that done for any time prior to January at this point. If you would like to discuss another date that works, you have my word that I will get it done this time. My sincere regrets about the dates previously discussed and hope you will be able to forgive me for this major FAIL.

Thanks for 'fessing up' Roy.
I know how much work you do - most (if not all) events wouldn't happen without you.

But January probably won't work for me - but hope to see you around 'somewhere'.

January is out for me as well..then again most of next year may be out as well at the moment too, until I find out my job situation.

It doesn't have to be in the month of January. Heck, we can do it in April if that gives everyone more time to plan? [d_training.gif]

That's a good reason to make it the 17, 18 or 19 May!

Make it happen in May and we WILL be there. I guess we'll have to pick up a bottle of Madeira in the meantime!

Roy, I will arrive in the afternoon on Friday May 17th, 100% confirmed on UA from Vegas ( three nights there , first stop from Oslo ), so you guys decide on Sat 18th or Sunday 19th since that is weekend which should be best for you ??

No problem with me any of these dates. TTTT was on a Saturday , so maybe best for you all ?

Will leave SFO early morning the 22nd for Norway.. Love that city, was there also after TTTT this year ...

Young Reidar was there the first time in 1967... [berserker.gif] . Watched the Hare Krishna at Union Square...

Saturday 5/18 is much better for me than Sunday. And I'm sure my employer would feel the same way! :drunk:

Any day that weekend is good for me. I'll be in Sacramento anyways then, so a quick drive down to San Fran would be OK.

So funny I decided to check out this thread even though I wont be in San Fran in Dec. I will be in CA in May for a wedding in Ojai on the 11. I would definitely be in if you guys get together sometime before or after the 11th. I have some cool stuff I can contribute as well!
