A very good price for any 30 year old
Nice and fresh, too, as it was bottled in 2007. :)

Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on a mixed case of 1994 Burmester, 2000 Crasto, and 2003 Crasto; or just wait for the next

newsletter.

Split a case of '70 Cockburn and '75 Cockburn both just imported from Northern England. Both are excellent. The '75 is well balanced, if a bit simple yet delightful easy drinker. The '70 as is one would expect...

I've been away from port for a little while, but just picked up a case of 1980 Gould Campbell from The Chicago Wine Company's auction last month. Price was just shy of $33 per bottle, including sales tax. There was no shipping because they're local to me, but the tax makes up for it. I was happy with the deal. Popped one last night because it was leaking, but I'll put that tasting not in that forum.

I bought a 2000 Ramos Pinto VP for $30 today. I figured at that price I was willing to take a chance, as I had no clue about it at the time of purchase. I poked around online and didn't find too many rave reviews for this particular one when I got home afterward. One reviewer said it was in a dumb phase. I have seen some reviews that said it was a good value, and some that said this port was mediocre at best. I guess I'll find out for myself soon enough.

1978 and 1992 Warre’s Quinta de Cavadinha. I don't expect either of these to be spectacular, but the 1992 seemed a bargain and the 1978 is extremely rare, the first SQVP from that property. I also picked up a couple of 2005 Niepoort, for which I do have greater expectations.

Was the Warre's 20 year the Otima or the regular 20 year? How did it compare to the Noval 20 year?

I had a glass of 2001 Niepoort LBV with dinner on Saturday night. It went really well with my pancetta and gorgonzola pasta!

The regular; can't remember if it was T, TR, or FTR; In fact, I don't know which of those Warre's offers.
I think the Nimrod may be the FTR. I still haven't seen the Otima 20 in a local store. When I get a bottle I'll do a side-by-side with the Nimrod. The Noval 20 seemed pale, both in color and taste, compared to the Warre's 20. Note: these are bottles that have been sitting open/recapped on a backbar for varying and unknown lengths of time.
