Mike and I are planning a pre-2000 LBV fest. We have way too many for one event...or maybe not depending on one's geek level.
Saw this listing and thought of you:

I completely missed that when I was going through the WineBid listing today. Thanks Eric.

Very cool. Thanks.
Were those bought in your domestic market or direct from Portugal? It looks to be a Portuguese market labels.

2x 1968 Taylor-Fladgate Limited Edition Very Old Single Harvest Port
I'd call them colheitas, but they're labeled as above.

I bought these here in The Netherlands, from a shop which specializes in Ports and Portuguese wines. But the labels are indeed Portuguese.

So, would those be from Krohn's stock that was purchased? If so, they would be fresher than the 1968 Krohn's I bought a bunch of. My and wife's birth year.

I purchased two 2016 Quinta dos Eirados some months ago (along with two SW16).
But after opening the auction lot today, it actually contained two 2016 Q. do Vesuvio instead of the Eirados.
Considering I paid $100 in final total for the four bottles, I suppose I've made out like a bandit.

If I can keep snagging good VP at auction for $25, even if only occasionally, I might even abandon my goal of trying virtually every LBV recently produced to figure out which one to buy in bulk. This party is sure to not last forever.

Yes, everything I've heard says that the 1968 Taylor Single Harvest is from Krohn stocks. It is not the same blend as the 1968 Krohn that many of us got as Premier Cru was collapsing, though. I think the Taylor is a nicer blend, even considering that the Krohn has been in bottle longer.

Ah. Another '68er. Awesome! Will let you know when we plan the next '68 vintage party. Got a bunch of bottles waiting for the event including '68 Fonseca, Gaja, d'Yquem and plenty more.

On the VP side I have Fonseca, Graham, and Taylor. No d'Yquem, but I do have Ygay Gran Reserva and Toro Albala Don PX Selección, along with some lesser wines with a lower chance of being good. I'll probably open a few for this coming birthday, but there's a good number to save for the future.

Another stash arrived today from Portugal Vineyards - a great source for the humbler Portuguese wines - VP and long age tawnies are offered, but at silly prices.
Included were 2016 LBVs from three producers I've never owned or tasted in any shape or form:
Quinta do Estanho
Quinta dos Avidagos
Quinta dos Mattos
All supplied with driven corks, so they'll be laid down for at least a dozen years before I pop any of them.
This brings the total number of LBV producers in my cellar to 55 and the total number of LBV bottles to 584

Picked up a magnum 2011 Fonseca for $100. The only bottle available. Seems like a solid price.
