5x Warre 350th anniversary vinhas velhas vintage 2020
Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
That Warre's is wonderful, try one early on and leave the other four to try once a decade from there on. :)
Ignore this advice completely, if you are 50 or above. :)
But to better appreciate these 2020 VP's, take a few days tasting one while it is young and you will love to gauge its evolution in the future.![Friends [friends.gif]](./images/smilies/friends.gif)

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Not tried, but I just love the vintage. I truly suspect these will drink beautifully now and any year they are opened.

I had 4 in 2015 and one of the 4 was drunk. I plan to drink the next one in 5 or 10 years. Give news if you drink one.

Great advice, I'll try one and drink the other ones twice a decade from there on. That means I'll have the last one at age 89! Roy, you are invited to share them all with Marguérite and me in the years to come!Roy Hersh wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 11:17 am That Warre's is wonderful, try one early on and leave the other four to try once a decade from there on. :)

Acker. My least favorite auction site, but sometimes the price is still worth all of the markups they add on.LOUISSS J wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:15 amWo! Great buy! Where did you buy them?Randy Katz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:10 pm 12x2011 Taylor Vinha Velha

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Niepoort Garrafeira 1948, according to a small addditional label on the back originally imported by A. Hoogendijk Wine Import in Vlaardingen (near Rotterdam).
The Hoogendijk company started around 1800 as herring fishermen and merchant shippers. As Portugal/Porto was its main destination, the company started trading Portuguese wines as well. The fishing/shipping and wine trading activities were split in 1916. Hoogendijk Wine Import ceased to exist in 1982 (Google).
Sounds like Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, who also started as fish traders (cod) to the Portuguese market!

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
A small lot won at Acker's weekly auction this past weekend:
1983 Dow VP
1987 Ferreira VP
1991 Dow LBV
I was primarily after the Ferreira, but the others are nice cellar defenders. All in was $100 and since they're about a half hour from where I live now in PA (they're in Delaware), I can pick up and not have to pay for shipping.
