I wouldn't pay much attention to the Flagman part. The Douro Wine Shippers and Growers Association is more relevant here. They were owned by Barros at some point, and produced many different brands for different markets, including a good number of buyer's-own-brand labels. You've got a colheita from them that is been in bottle for many years. Maybe give it some decant time in case there is bottle stink, and hope for the best. You bought a fun lottery ticket.

They were all purchased direct from Kopke after a special tasting the day before the Glenn 60th birthday tour officially kicked off. A few were bottled in 2023 and the rest in 2024. The 1967 is really, really good.

My Pocas order arrived from Portugal this morning.
Received was...

3 x Bonficador Tawnies. If I recall correctly, this is a blend that they partially use in the production of their various TWAIOA's and also to top them off. Previously, it had not been for sale. I believe they only sell this at Pocas. There are only 733 bottles from one Barrica. I have bottle numbers 030, 039 and 410. The winemaker (André Pimentel Barbosa) said it's approximately 25 years old, but I felt it tasted much older and better than the 30 year old tawny tasted alongside it. I don't say that lightly because I am a big fan of their 30 year old Tawny. The label is very pretty as well, simple yet elegant. This is a great tawny. I believe it was bottled in the last month or two.

1x 40 year old Tawny (bottled 2021)
2 x 50 year old Tawnies (bottled 2023)

If you go to Portugal, it's well worth going to a tasting at Pocas in Gaia. Their TWAIOA's are fantastic and their prices in the U.S. are very good.

Also carried home from the Glenn Birthday Extravaganza trip to Portugal:

Quinta de Brunheda - This is a Quinta that is tucked in the far reaches of the Douro. The property is isolated but beautiful. We had a tasting in the living room along with one of the owners and one of their marketing people. We tasted some amazing Ports. The Ports we tasted came straight from the cask and were bottled that day. They would have been pouring them straight from the cask and into our glasses, but we arrived a little late. No matter, the Ports were all fantastic. From Brunheda I acquired:

1 x Cask CP1 40 year old Tawny
1 x 60 year old White
1 x Cask CG1 60 year old White (This was a different blend than the "plain" 60 year old white and was aged in a Chestnut barrel. Both were great)
1 x 70+ year old Tawny

Vallegre Vista Alegre:

2 x 2007 White Colheita
2 x 1985 Colheita
1 x 40 year old White

DR Agri-Roncao:

3 x 2010 White Colheita
1 x 30 year old White
1 x 50 year old Tawny

Found at a shop down the street from our hotel and purchased:

Quinta das Lamelas 20 year old White

Only a few bottle of Port on Glenn's tour, mainly brought back table wines.
Two bottles of 1974 Barros colheita. One was the new 50 year anniversary label.
One bottle each of Brunheda Tonel 3, 70+, and 60 white.

Six packs of: JH Andresen 2002 and 2011 Vintage Ports. Also in six-packs: 40 Year Old White Port and 1991 Colheitas.


A couple of old VP's from the UK, but I want to make sure they arrive before even saying anything.

Sorry Roy, I missed this previously. Yes, I was part of the pre-tour tasting at Kopke with the rest of the group (except Ann & Rob) on Saturday and we were given a very generous discount.

That's a shame, Eric, but you're right, a Kopke bottle will still be very enjoyable.

Colheita. I believe bottled in 2023 but will double check.

Opps. 2019. And 2024 for the 1974.

From my visit to Sao Joao, only a single bottle of 1974 Barros Colheita. This one had the regular label bottled 2024. There is another 2024 bottling with a label celebrating the 50 year carnation revolution anniversary. I've only seen the celebration label at the Sogevinus shop for 175 euros. No employee or friends discount is allowed. The other 2024 bottling, I'm going to assume they taste much the same, has the regular label. I've only seen the 2024 at the duty free in Porto and Lisbon. Other shops have the 2023 bottling. At the duty free, these cost 110 euros so the celebration label costs 65 euros. I have one of the celebration label, but several of the regular label. I really like this wine. An elegant, high acid wine. 50 years in wood. 110 euros seems a bargain to me. Most 40 year old tawnies cost more.
