Friends brought over some Graham's 10 Year old last night that was nice on its own, and then paired well with some brie and then coconut crème brûlée.

1977 Smith Woodhouse VP. Still holding up as the extracted monster of that vintage.

`98 Quinta do Noval LBV whilst visiting pals in Medicine Hat Alberta. Will post full notes on a wonderful experience!
Re: What have you opened this week?
Last night saw a bottle of Quinto do Bucheiro NV Ruby being opened - not a port I will seek out again, lightweight fruit and a fearsome level of acidity which is somewhat compensated by a terrific length.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Was at a restaurant last night having dinner and I saw they had a brand new bottle of 1968 Warre's Colheita on the bar shelf. I inquired how much for the bottle to open for my after dinner dessert. The waitress didn't know as it wasn't even listed on their wine list. A short time later she came back and said, "Forty dollars." That's right, you read correctly, $40. I almost fell out of my chair! Not only yes, but hell yes!!! Had a glass then recorked it and took the rest home. Has to be my buy of the year so far.
Oh, it was their only bottle or I would have tried to buy all they had.

I am dumbfounded, and trying to figure out if it is just the price or the fact that Andy, an officer of the law, stole it at that.Andy Velebil wrote:1968 Warre's Colheita ... $40.

1960 Ferreira Vintage Port. Found a couple of cases for sale and figured I try one bottle. Very "Ferreira" tasting and after 3 hours decant was still tight and spirity. Would love to see what this would open up to.

I managed to get a couple of cases of this a year or two back - there's not many left! They are very drinkable, I didn't find them too spirity.Moses Botbol wrote:1960 Ferreira Vintage Port. I've just opened my last bottle of Warre 1974 LBV (bottled 1978). It's a great port.

Re: What have you opened this week?
I'd love to try another one with a much longer decant. It was not excessive spirit, but when so tight it really showed the spirit more. Nice color and typical Ferreira elegance. Did you find the bottles had saturated corks? I see that a lot with Ferreira. The wax seal is a savior for this Producer.Al B. wrote:I managed to get a couple of cases of this a year or two back - there's not many left! Just decanted a 1990 Churchill's LBV (Unfiltered). Found it at a local store last year and finally am getting around to trying it out. Will check back in later with a TN on it.
