I think tomorrow's game intensity will rival the ones we've seen between Russia and Canada in the 70's. It will be intense on ice and in the crowd. I can't say I'm 100% confident for this game, we've been humiliated 4 years ago and need to make the statement that we can beat Ryan Miller after the fantastic game he did play last Sunday. Still USA needs to bring back gold home from Canada that beat them on their home ice in 2002.

Yes, Canada can be such a pacific country but when it comes to losing at Hockey, some horrible things can happen in the streets after the game. We've seen more riots for hockey games than for politicians screwing us.

A gold tomorrow will put Canada as the all-time gold medal leader in the winter olympics!

I wouldn't put the game in the same boat as the 72 series .
That was historic , I remember I was in 5th grade and the school
delayed the classes and allowed us to go to the library and watch the game .
No doubt you'll probably be able to cut the tension with a knife , but for different reasons .
In '72 the reasons were political : US vs THEM , communism vs capitalism , our hockey system was the best .
What an eye opener . It was as If all your life you had been led to believe that your talent was the best in the world and nothing , I mean nothing was going to change that .
So adding a little history puts things into perspective .

Regardless of the outcome, at 2-0 in Canada's favor, I'd have bet a case of 1994 Taylor VP that the USA had no chance to even tie. Absolutely crazy and evenly matched game. Love it.

Fantastic game!!!! This kind of quality of hockey reminds us how much the quality is dillute in the NHL full of cheap shot and fights. We don't need those to have quality and exciting game! This game proved it again.

I was happy that Crosby scored, he has been shadowed by other great players during the tournament, putting his final touch there will put his name high up where it belongs.

The funny thing is that this kind of behavior isn't uncontrollable by the players. The organizing body simply says that head-shots and fighting will be met with serious penalties (and is known to enforce it), and it doesn't happen. I'd say that the NHL knows that fights sell beer and doesn't do more than pay lip-service to the notion of controlling fighting.

No one can deny that this was a fiercely-contested match, and fun to watch. Who needs the fighting? Eh?

I saw the Finland - Slovakia game in person, but only watched the first 2 periods of Canada - USA before we set out for home. Neither of us are really hockey fans, and we wanted to get out of Vancouver before the streets were plugged by drunk Canadians. We were surprised to hear that the USA managed to tie the game and force overtime, but ultimately Canada prevailed.

Our trip strategy seems to have worked, because the streets of Vancouver were completely clear while we left and there was no wait at all at the border. Success!

The main reason their are so many head injuries : Lack of talent in the NHL .
There are players who should be playing in the AHL .
With less players , you have less teams .
The teams play each other more often and the players know each others strenghts and weaknesess .
A certain amount of respect is created between the players .

I have always preferred sports/competitions where there are a very few participants selected from the world's best: Formula1 and WRC; Sumo Wrestling; Final stages of Olympic competition; Americas Cup finals; and things like that. League expansions only dilute the top players.

All-star games would be better if participation wasn't a popularity contest. I'd pick 2 coaches and let them choose players for their "dream teams".

After about 20 people, it seems to me that there is a serious drop-off in quality in almost any sport. It might even be as few as 10.
