I failed to note it here at the time, but on my birthday I opened an 1875 D'Oliveiras Malvasia Family Reserve. I purchased 2 bottles about 8 years ago for this purpose... I plan to ration the bottles, 2 oz per year on my birthday, as a birthday treat for myself. They should last through my 85th birthday.

This year's 2 oz was as spectacular as I remembered! [yahoo.gif]

On Monday I took delivery of 90 bottles from my external storage. 12 of them were 2004 Blandy Malmsey Colheita, bottled in 2019.

They’re proving irresistible. I only have 10 left.

9 now. Andy's right, I'd better order more. These are just irresistible and at £27/$33 per (50ml) bottle delivered they are decent value.

Alex. For your own protection and safety I think it would be advisable if you boxed up the remaining ones and ship them straight away to me. I promise to keep a very close eye on them for you. And if a few happen to go missing? I would chalk it up as the angel's share.

Too late. Another one got opened this evening.

But that’s what 50cl bottles of colheita Malvasia are all about. Drink now while the rest of the wine slumbers in the canteiro.

I decanted a bottle of the VJH Bual 1964 this evening for drinking at the weekend. Hope it’s as good as the last one. I needed a change from the Blandy 2004 Malvasia Colheita.

1870 Adega Exportadora da Vinhos Madeira Malmsey.
I was not expecting much. Not familar with the producer. But it is excellent.

Alex,

That Justino's 1964 Bual is darn good, I had it once in Nov. and again in December. Only a couple of ounces each time. I don't want to say more about my impressions, until you tell us what you thought, if you would like to share. [friends.gif]

Eric that 1870 Malmsey sounds intriguing. How long ago did you purchase the bottle(s)?

Eric,

are you sure it was "Adega Exportadora da Vinhos" and not "Companhia Regional de Exportacão de Vinhos Da Madeira"?

The first one is a Borges affiliate, the latter I don't know whom it belonged to or where it went.

My (only) bottle; haven't opened it yet, but good to hear your TN.

Here is what the Adega bottle looks like
