Kinda funny coincidence, I just warned my coworker I would be "sick" around thAt weekend...

I am dismayed to realize that I have a race on March 2nd early in the morning. I can't think of any possible way to make this work that doesn't involve missing at least half of the main event, as I'd have to fly home on Saturday evening.

So unfortunately, I have to bow out. I thought the race was the week AFTER the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, not the week before.

There are plenty of races. Trust me, I know as I've been racing bicycles for over 25 years. There are however, not plenty of events like this. Skip the race and come have fun.

And they are wayyyyyy more running races than there are bike races, trust me on that one.

This is true... let me talk it over with my wife (we're both running in the race) and see.

Part of the need for the race is that it fits conveniently into our training schedule for the Portland Half Marathon in May. As you know, having a training rhythm leading up to a race is really important if you want to do well. Kari just runs these races to complete them, but I'm always trying to improve upon my previous times.

There is plenty of good running areas around me and the univ hotel. major college and high school meets are held around the school area. You can run in the morning before the main event so as not to disrupt your training too much. There's even cross-country trails around the univ. :)

I was thinking 9-10 (the race is a 15k), but yes company is always welcome!

Tickets booked. I'll be flying in/out of SNA if anyone wants to share a ride, arriving mid-afternoon on Friday, leaving mid-morning on Sunday.

Hi Glenn,

This is the one time I would strongly suggest that running be put in its proper perspective and you will still have plenty of time to train with your wife afterwards. There won't be many chances to do a weekend like this and I think it would be a great bonding experience too. I will give you a GREAT post-race bottle for Kari if you are able to change her mind to allow you to be there with us.

Besides, having a vertical of this depth and quality will be one of the great Port epiphanies you would ever have. Seriously!
