Yeah this affected my bidding as well. I have a fair number of 90s Ports and didn't feel like I needed to reach in order to get more, especially with an already full cellar. I'm not sure where I'm going to put the 18 bottles I just won!Eric Menchen wrote:which is more a statement on cellar space and having a lot of 1990s.

It would be neat to figure out what he got compared to our original estimates.

Agreed. I presume LL gets all of the 18% buyers premium. I wonder if they get a cut beyond that, or charge other fees, like to pick up and deliver to them.Moses Botbol wrote:It would be neat to figure out what he got compared to our original estimates.
I paid about a few dollars more than I would have paid direct, but subtract out the BP and we're right back at the same point.

Assume no seller's commission to start with.Eric Menchen wrote:Agreed. I presume LL gets all of the 18% buyers premium. I did, but placed mostly lowball bids and so did not win any of the lots that I bid on.John M. wrote:Did anyone bid in the section auction yesterday? Website shows nothing so far...

I did one lowball on the 1995 Smith Woodhouse---it went for just $250 plus the rest---so that was a bargain IMHO.

That is good. I bought a case at auction (Zachy's) last November and paid $516.David Spriggs wrote:I did. Got a case of 1991 Croft for $400

This marketplace part of the Forum is incredible. I can't think of anywhere else on the web, where there is this type of sharing of info, transparency and willingness to keep "hands off" just based on a fellow member's request when it comes to auction action.
