D'oh! Good for you. I sent Ken a list of bottles I was interested in, but I haven't figured out yet if I can afford them.

Ouch!

Last weekend, I opened my last bottle of 1963 Quinta do Noval Nacional during a fun and festive break out from two cellars. Today I scored a new bottle of that Port, (one can never be w/out one) and it might just be my last, who knows. Very painful at a time I was not planning to be buying more wine. But the provenance is unquestionable, as it is from the source where I purchased the first nine bottles. I just hope it shows as well as last weekend's brilliant bottle.

Er, I don't think I'll be buying any more Port this month! :(

Did you already tell Dorene and Taylor there's no money for summer holiday this year...?

4 x 1985 Fonseca Vintage Port

The Broadbent has already arrived - that purchase was a week or so ago. Just got confirmation on the Fonseca, which should arrive early next week!

36 x Generation III Port Style wine from Ferrara Winery in San Diego, California
2 sips of Fonseca 20 year Tawny

OK, so I bought 3 cases of Gen III ($42/bottle), but only one was for me, the other two were for my father and brother. Great stuff, but they don't ship so I had to go to SD myself to pick it up and ship it.

The Fonseca, on the other hand, was another story. After visiting SD for a day I went to Las Vegas for the weekend. One of those days I went to the Casa Fuente Cigar Lounge in Caesars Palace and suggested for my Bachelor/Future-Groom-to-be friend to have a port with the cigar I had given him as he hadn't had good experiences with ports. Needless to say paying $20 for the two sips of port we got served was highly a ripoff because a bottle is only $45-50, but it matched almost perfectly with the cigar and my friend agreed. While I'd go back to the lounge, I'll stick to their excellent $14 Mojitos and avoid their port selection. Even Six Grapes was above $10/glass.

For $14 I hope that's one hell of a Mojito!

There was a bit of sarcasm there, haha, but I should also mention I had about 3-4 waters to go along with it.
It actually was good though, and it's a really large glass too so I'd say it's worth it, especially if you've been used to "$10 beer nights" at larger cities when you go downtown, lol. I did some reading around before going there and everyone recommended the Mojito.

I did not see this same thread in the Madeira section, but I just picked up 6 bottles of Broadbent 1996 Madeira for $35 each. Different animal than their 10 year Madeira. Not sure which one I like better (not having them side to side). The '96 has more orange extract, floral and is a little hotter.

I had some explaining to do about this purchase to my wife. She seemed to take it in stride. [beg.gif]

12 x 1994 Fonseca VP
6 x 1994 Quinta do Vesuvio VP - wouldn't want to allow the supply to drop too much!
1 x 1963 Grahams VP
