1977 taylor, was scary as it was part of the terrible shipment I got earlier this year with bottles covered in old leakage. I kept two of six. this is the lesser condition of the 2 I kept with a high cork, but no signs of leaking. It was great. With friends over a football game, so not worth commenting on in notes, but it felt like it could go another 10 years easy.

Tonight I am going to go grahams 1977 for Christmas eve, and likely will last me until tomorrow...depending how blurried eyed I want to get as I wrap santa's presents....

Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro 20-yr old Tawny Port. This bottle was $25 on the internet and is obviously light in the bottle, so I suspected it woukd be flawed in some way. Other than being a bit spirity it seems to be fine.

Vesuvio 2010 - really delicious,full of fruit but with a gentle tannic core that will keep it going for a few decades. Luscious is the word I'd use to describe this port.

Went to the State run liqour store today and stlil haven't found Port. My quest isn't over just yet, I don't give up that easily. In the mean time beer is my new-old friend

NC used to be rough for beer, but I think the alcohol limit laws are gone and you can find some decent stuff now. And Oskar Blues just opened a new brewery around there. May you find a nice winter warmer for the holidays, or maybe a barleywine (I prefer the English style).

Then Nicos, my British brother from another mother ... thank you for posting once again. With all of your many Ports, it amazes me how infrequently you drink them. Glad they were available and open for your family to enjoy on Christmas. Don't be a stranger! Nicos, was one of the first people to post on FTLOP, although we had been friends for a half decade before the Forum came into being.

What an introduction from my Seattle brother Roy! You are too kind! I drink Port infrequently as:
1) Friends in my wine circles rarely ever drink Port, preferring wine;
2) More difficult, but not impossible, to drink a bottle of Port at home over 24 hours.

1) For your New Years resolution, add: I shall do a better job of TRAINING the members in my wine circle(s) to enjoy Port more often.

2) 24 hour rule ... I know ALL of your siblings, so wait until they are around and pop the corks and the stuff will disappear quickly!

I found this at a little local wine shop. I had actually stopped in to pick up a bottle of Barbaresco for a holiday dinner and noticed that they had this on the shelf. I hadn't heard much about it so I thought I'd give it a try.
