I found this is a store while visiting a friend. In my quest to try more white port I picked one up. I have not had the opportunity to try it yet. However, I have only found 2 TN's on Cellar Tracker, and none here on the forum. Has anyone had this particular white port? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Thanks.

Best mixed with tonic, sprig of mint and plenty of ice!

Steven,

Thanks for the quick reply. One question, how much tonic do you mix the port? 50% tonic, 50% port??

Depends a bit on the flavour of the Port used and your personal preference of course (keep in mind that a 1:1 mix is still about 10% alcohol, but will drink like a soda), but I prefer between 1:2 to 1:1 Port:Tonic. Man, I can't wait for summer! :D

Indeed, best mixed with tonic, and IMO not highly enjoyable on its own. But even for portonic it's not the best combination. The mix tastes even better with a dry white port (Niepoort, Churchill, Baldias, Gilberts or even Taylor).

I had this a few occasions, one of the few whites I enjoy drinking very chill. I have never tried it with tonic wather yet.

Fresh and complex for a white port, lots of honey, floral and tropical fruits flavours.

Well a bit of cleaning around the house and mid-80's temps caused me to finally get around to opening this "extra dry" white port today. I tried just a small taste by itself. Interesting to say the least, not sure I like it by itself yet. But I will have to sit down at a later time and give it a true taste test.

But for now, on a warm summer day, I mixed it 50/50 with tonic water and ice. Now, not a bad combo. Remindes me a bit like watered down apple juice with a hint of fresh citrus juice. Not a bad warm weather drink. This will be good for lounging around a friends pool or at the beach on a hot day. :yumyum:
