1968 Quevedo Colheita Port

Tasted at Andy's Los Angeles/O.C. Offline with Oscar Quevedo.
My second opportunity to taste this Port, and I feel very lucky. A TN and score don't really do justice to the experience of tasting this Port, as it is unlike just about anything else I have tried. Oscar says this is probably due to the fact that it has aged in larger barrels than normal. I think he said that the barrels are about 1100 liters instead of the normal 550-liter pipas.
1968 Quevedo Garrafeira Particular (Colheita)
Color: Medium red/brown dark tawny, fairly cloudy.
Nose: Christmas spice, some mellow lemon. Dusty, something earthy/mineral. Smells more like a very well aged VP than a Colheita to me.
Palate: Some spice, some tart citrus (lemon? orange?). Good acidity. Something smokey and meaty like a very carefully charred filet. Angelfood cake. Medium sweet/tart cherry.
Finish: Good length, but not extremely long. Echos palate. It might be longer, but I can't resist taking another sip.
Score: 94+ points. Really only edged out by a nose by the 1970 Niepoort. Easily my Tawny of the night.
