Tasted at
Andy's Los Angeles/O.C. Offline with Oscar Quevedo.
By all accounts this was a corked bottle, but I couldn't tell. It didn't even seem muted to me, so I went ahead and took notes.
2000 Quinta do Passadouro Vintage Port
Color: Dark purple/garnet, opaque in center.
Nose: Alcohol, faintly minty/green.
Palate: Good tannins, good acidity. Blackberry, medium tart cherry. Black cherry? Something mildly green.
Finish: Tannins, decent length. Fades nicely but rather quickly.
Score: 88 points. I can't even guess how this might improve if not corked because I couldn't tell it was corked in the first place.

This was horribly corked and we all kidded Glenn about him drinking it and taking a TN

Unlike Glenn, I can readily detect TCA; and unlike most people, I don't find it so terribly offensive. Sometimes I can set the TCA aside and otherwise evaluate the wine. But in this case, with so many other great options available, I just didn't see the point in trying.

I envy Glen's inability to detect TCA taint. Never a bad bottle? Great! Remember, everyone's sensory equipment is different so lighten up on Glen.

I wonder if they sell the stuff in solution?
Gee guys, it's really too bad that '63 Nacional is corked. Mind if I drink all of it?

Jim,
It's all in good fun that we bust his chops, nothing serious I assure you. And I to wish I wasn't so sensitive to TCA....

Absolutely all in good fun.

Don't worry, I get even too - some of them are so repelled by TCA that they can't even watch me taste a corked wine... you should see Roy cringe when I take a sip of one that he knows is bad!
