I was at the game last night and there was more talk about the Cliff Lee trade than the game itself. Of course, that was the buzz from the Mariner's fans. The Yankees fans ... which equaled the quantity of M's fans ... here in Seattle, were more focused on winning the game.

The Rangers look like they're serious about trying to win this year, that's for sure. I've heard some say that the Mariners broke a commitment of sorts to the Yankees, though I haven't read enough to know what really happened there. The Yankees will still have a good shot at signing Lee this winter, I imagine, and they won't have to give up prospects this way. The Yankees are still the team to beat right now, and their pitching is more than adequate as it stands. Trading for Lee would have made them a near lock, though. Cano has become a stud this year, and the lineup really doesn't have too many holes in it. They just have to avoid injuries, as usual.
