1934 Fonseca Vintage Port

From the FTLOP 5th Anniversary Party at the Holiday Inn Issaquah, July 31, 2010.
I was having an off palate night, possibly caused by dinner at Cucina Cucina, so my ratings were significantly lower than everyone else's. In some cases I have reverted back to my initial impressions because, in retrospect, those seem more appropriate given how others were scoring.
1934 Fonseca Vintage Port
Color: Dark tawny, but brilliantly clear.
Nose: Faint strawberry, light VA, vanilla caramel. Mildly fruity in a generic sort of way.
Palate: Mostly secondary fruits (very ripe strawberry and raspberry) and only moderately sweet. Soap? Also somewhat buttery.
Finish: Good length, some heat. Also a bit of an edge.
Score: 88 points. Another case where I've gone back to my initial impression for the score. This Port was very good, but I felt it was missing something necessary to score it in the excellent range.
