From the FTLOP 5th Anniversary Party at the Holiday Inn Issaquah, July 31, 2010.
I was having an off palate night, possibly caused by dinner at Cucina Cucina, so my ratings were significantly lower than everyone else's. In some cases I have reverted back to my initial impressions because, in retrospect, those seem more appropriate given how others were scoring.
1935 Cockburn Vintage Port
Color: Dark tawny, very slightly cloudy.
Nose: Sugary, mild fruit compote, some vanilla.
Palate: Spice, mint, secondary fruits. Good acidity - makes my mouth water.
Finish: Nice sweetness and decent length. Surprisingly, some tannins.
Score: 88 points. I liked the '35 Cockburn ever so slightly better than the '34 Fonseca. The tannins in the finish were quite a surprise in a 75-year old Port!
