1940 Kopke Colheita Port

From the FTLOP 5th Anniversary Party at the Holiday Inn Issaquah, July 31, 2010.
I was having an off palate night, possibly caused by dinner at Cucina Cucina, so my ratings were significantly lower than everyone else's. In some cases I have reverted back to my initial impressions because, in retrospect, those seem more appropriate given how others were scoring.
1940 Kopke Colheita
bottled 1998
Color: Dark brown, slightly cloudy.
Nose: Leather, a slight stink possibly bottle stink, some VA.
Palate: Good acidity. Kind of dark in nature. Nice citrus. Weak vs 1937 and 1900, but otherwise excellent. Pecan pie?
Finish: Long and tart. Nice.
Score: 91 points. Tough flight for an otherwise excellent Port, but it just couldn't compare to the '37 and '00.
