1991 Krohn Vintage Port

Post by Ronald Wortel »

I've tasted the 1997 and 1995 before and quite liked them. Considering the fact that these porst usually cost little over €20,- they are nice drinkers for weekdays.

This 1991 was poured from a half bottle (bottled 1994!) and was clearly not up to the 1995 and 1997.

Very sweet nose with some blackberries and chocolate. Alcoholic. Glycerol like and very straightforward palate. Some berries, cherries and chocolate and a green bitter finish. The mouthfeel is much too thick for the flavours, which makes the port cloying and tiresome. A simple port, and enjoyable to some extend, but after one glass I had a sudden urge for a beer...

Ronnie poured me a glass of this VP after it had spend a few days in the fridge: it was...well, crap is too strong a word...not pleasant. As always, nice to have tasted, but this is not a VP I'd recommend. Pity...
