1983 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Richard Henderson »

Our 23d anniversary is this week so, I am pulling a cork on one of the 83's we have the most, 16 bottles. The cork came out smooth; strong, very nice dark berry fruit jam bouquet. I poured a splash in a large Riedel glass. More dark berry fruit and nutmeg, cinnamon, mace, hints of cloves hints of dried prunes and dates. A bright red brick color. Silky mouth feel , flavors coat the palate, loads of complex fruit and spice flavors. Not too hot even when first opened. This has a Berry Bros label on the back.
I am looking forward to the evolution of this port over the next 24-48 hours.
