1994 Martinez Quinta Da Eira Velha Vintage Port

Post by simon Lisle »

This is a strange one I opened this on Broadbents tasting notes of 97 which he said was ready now untill 2010.Has the makings of a very good port I'm still not sure,The complexity is all there the balance is just off the pace. Will it improve,if it does it will be a really good port, value wise at £15 a bottle It's a bargain.Deep ruby to the rim,Dark chocolate, walnuts and to me prunes all swirling as one.92 to a possible 96 if it improves.Decanted for six hours.

Mayson loves this one - I have a case, as yet unbroached...

The 1994 is a very solid VP. The 1995 which gets no press, is even better and cheaper too. Great stuff!

The importer used to be a few miles away until they "released" the brand a few years ago when they no longer were going to carry Martinez.
