Early Noval vintages

Post by Tom Archer »

In a fit of exuberance, I bought a bottle of Noval '41 at Sotheby's today.

I was intrigued by the rarity of the date - it may have been the only '41 declared.

Looking up my references, I noted that despite the fame of the '31, none of my books lists Noval vintages prior to 1960.

I know that a disastrous fire a generation ago destroyed their archives, but I wonder if a list of their early declared vintages survives??

NOval, Qta do - bottled in 1944 and tasted ten years later, rich an luscious. Probably faded now. 1954. Then ***
