Dow 1982 Quinta do Bomfim Vintage Port. From 375, decanted some 4 hours before tasting it non-blind.
This bottle had thrown about 1 cm of deposit, and looked very light in the glass. Still ruby red, but with a slight bricking on the edge. Initially, nothing on the nose apart from a very slight whiff of VA. This blew off with some more time, revealing dried figs and leather.
Big bodied, but not glycerolic. Sweet for a Dow. Very smooth, plenty of dried fruits, tobacco and caramel. Slightly hollow on the midpalate. No tannins left.
Medium finish, rather dry with earthy flavours, if a bit hot.
Not the most interesting of VPs, but better than I had expected (especially from a 375): 87 points – drink up!
