So I was wondering around my local Larry's Market (specialty store in Seattle) and I came across 5 bottles of 1995 Quinta Do Crasto VP for $24 a bottle. I dont know anything about this VP, but at $24 a shot it was worth getting at least one.

I searched around online and found it only referenced once, running at $45 a bottle.

Is this port a good one? Should I go back and pick up the other 4? Anyone know anything about this one?

Well, Suckling gave the wine 90/100 when he tasted it in 1998. For $24, this sounds like a bargain - if it has been properly stored.

Can you return an unopened wine to the store if you "change your mind" about buying it? If so, why not clear the shelf and open a bottle tomorrow?

If the wine is good, keep all the other bottles.

If the wine is spoiled through bad storage, return all the other bottles (and even the one you opened, maybe) and complain.

You win both ways!

(I declare an interest. I have a bottle of this wine in my cellar and I would love to know what it tastes like.)

Well, I went ahead and bit the bullet. I just went back and purchased the other 5 bottles. I'm already workin on my bottle of Taylor's 2000 LVB, so I didnt want to open the first Quinta Do Crasto VP quite yet. But I didnt want to wait and miss a potential good deal, so what the heck, right?

I'd still like to hear anything anybody knows about this VP
