Al - the 1960 Ferreira was lovely! You were spot on with your assessment of it. I enjoyed it quite a bit and I'm looking forward the other 1/2 case that I have in the cellar.

2005 Quinta do Portal LBV ... so far, excellent juice.

Seems like I have not had port in ages and will be drinking a ton in a week or so... I was making room in the cellar for recent additions and could not believe how much 1980 Sandeman I had, so I took a bottle with me, along with an 1985 Ramos and 1999 Ferreira LBV.

I opened the Sandeman last night and plan to kill tonight. Very solid port; subtle integrated flavors with light spice, good body, and very pleasant. An under the radar port and another good bottle of the vintage.

Just opened a Ficklin 15 year old tawny. Quite rich and sweet. Very evolved, much like tawnies raised on the Douro; but no bake noted. Very much in the British style of tawny. It wouldn't be out of place in a line up of real 20 year old Tawny Ports.

C'mon, confess - it was a boys weekend away!

You missed out the Cockburn 1963; Dow 1960; Fonseca 1977; Gould Campbell 1977; Malvedos 1987, 1998, 1999, 2008 and Roriz 2007. Wouldn't want folks to think we'd been slacking! [yahoo.gif]

A bottle of 2003 Vale da Mina vintage port. This is a port from Jose Maria da Fonseca & Van Zeller SA but one which I have never seen before. If you're in the UK, it's available by the bottle from Laithwaites and is not a bad bottle - certainly good QPR at under GBP 20 per bottle.
