Was in Austin over the weekend and I brought some port along. My cousin likes port, but never had anything kind of fancy. Brought '70 Dow, '63 Croft, '85 GC, and '94 Martinez. We drank one a night; Thurs - Sunday.

Bet you were happy to have an excuse to open such a fine selection!

I opened a Dow 1977 last Thursday - partly to fit into the Virtual theme.

Over the weekend we had '83 Cockburn that started off pretty good, but within an hour started smell musty and by 5 hours started tasting musty. Solid pop and pour, but this plagued vintage reared its head once again...

Later in the evening we had '70 Noval and '70 Dow. Both showed quite well, albeit very different styles. Dow was certainly drier than the Noval and the Noval was a little hotter. Both were 93-94 point wines.

Bummer on the Cockburn's but sadly typical. Glad the others showed well. That Noval is getting hotter as time progresses and is in a period to enjoy

Graham Crusted bottled in 1985 - an interesting port, quite different from LBV or from vintage and very enjoyable.

last week:
- Quevedo 30 YO White port;
Last weekend:
- 1970 Amandio VP (Real Companhia Vinicola do Norte de Portugal);
- 1937 Stormonth Tait "Old Port", matured in Wood. Labels almost totally dissappeared. A t-stopper cork. A colheita for sure, and it was simply sensational 8--) :yumyum: :yumyum: [cheers.gif]
