Have to buy some Port for a 2002 birth or 2003 Christening (an option as 02 was poor) but anything from that vintage that might last 20 yrs or so ??
best wishes

2002 would have been a great year, but for heavy rain that interrupted the harvest.

There is some good wine from the few that got their crop in early - I have heard that the people at Roriz were very pleased with the outcome, although I don't think I've seen any independant confirmation.

A Roriz '02 would probably be in good form for both 21st birthday in '23 and 40th in '42 - so a good christening present!

Ray,
Go for 2003, and choose a top name like Fonseca, Taylor, Noval or Niepoort.

Tom,
thanks for the tip.
Nicos,
In my heart I know you are right but I would like to get something from
2002 as it is the exact year...but vintages don't always play ball.

single quintas in 02 ??
what's the best bet ?

Like Tom, I have heard that the Roriz 2002 was one of the best wines of the vintage but I have not had the chance to buy one or try one. Perhaps that would be your best next step.

Alex

Well I took all of your advice....some Roriz 02 and Niepoort 03
I wanted him to look at the label with the year of his birth on it.
So fingers crossed that they actually got the crop in early !!
