1896 Feuerheerd Vintage Port

Post by simon Lisle »

I thought I'd treat myself after coming back from a fine wine auction and open one of my oldies. Two part moulded bottle, opened using ah-so cork came out in two pieces.level is or should I say was low shoulder,I put my nose over the botttle phew a bit spirity.I decanted and left it for half an hour.Colour akin to ginger ale, sipped tentatively wow drinkable this is full blown tawny a bit bual madeira smoky nutty but I can really taste the age.I must admit this one is a bit tired but I still savour it.Another great port experiance but taste wise not as good which is what I find often with the old ones but it still does'nt stop me drinking them.
