1987 Graham's Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port

I poured this into the decanter at about 6pm. 15 minutes later there are rich, decadent aromas emanating from the decanter (making me think I should have bought more!). And indeed I should have - this is a deep dark beautiful port. Blackberry pie with a dusting of black pepper. Power and grace define the '87 Graham's. A pity it is my last bottle. :x

I am sure the shippers regret not making '87 a general declaration.
Having only had a two year gap between the previous two declarations of '83 & '85, they almost certainly felt that '87 would be overkill - but if they had known how far away the next good vintage would be, they would almost certainly have declared.
Had they done so, they would probably have felt under less pressure to declare the '91's, and in place of the split vintage we would probably have seen a full declaration in '92.
The good news of course is that the '87 SQVP's are very good value for money - except that they are noticeably scarce - on wine searcher, Malvedos '87 is only listed by four merchants worldwide - none of them in the UK
