For The Love Of Port

Now that "grandfathering" has been banned, maybe they'll stop bitching about being forced to stop using the word "port" on their labels.

Yes, they oppose grandfathering in one case, but support it in others. Now I've been to Calistoga, and they make some nice wines up there, but does "Calistoga" really signify greater quality or even a geographic distinction? Perhaps for some, but in my mind, not really.

Actually Calistoga is at the top end of Napa and therefore it is hotter and possesses more of what is called, "heat summation days." It is good for enabling greater concentration, but also it can be bad occasionally, for turning grapes into raisins, without intent.

Sounds like the "grandfathering" refers only to the labeling of viticultural areas and not to generic wine varieties.
