TCA and apples

Post by Andy Velebil »

Anyone ever get a TCA smell from pre-packaged apple slices? I love apples and regularly buy pre-cut and packaged apples to take to work. But I almost always get a cardboard-like, TCA, smell when I open the package. I try to ignore it, and I know I could cut my own apples but I usually don't have time nor the desire to do so everyday, but at times it is almost overpowering. I've had it from regular, organic, green and red apples so it isn't unique to one particular producer. Anyone else have this issue or know what causes it?
