First article

Hello,

my first article after a fairly long time of lurking this very interesting and
instructional discussion forum- very comfortable in respekt of courtesy. I am 41 years old and I live with my family in Germany, near Cologne/Düsseldorf. My first purchase with Vintage Port was Niepoort 1992 in 1995 for about 18 EUR/bottle. Unfortunatly I only got a few bottles instead of cases. I cleave to Niepoort with 1997, 2000 and 2003 vintage. My strong love with Port started with the 1997 Quinta do Noval LBV unfiltered- imho a spectacular quality. I like it even more than the 1994 LBV. In the meantime, my wife, in former times not at all interested in Port, changed her focus. And the situation would be serious, when my two little daughters grow older(laughing).

I hope, you would not have to struggle too much with my modest English. Thank you.

Best regards
Michael

Michael,

Welcome to FTLOP

I recently acquired some Neipoort 1992 from another member of this Forum and look forward to trying it for the first time soon. I have read many good reviews of this wine so my expectations are high.

I must compliment you on your command of English - I doubt very much that many people here could post message in German :?

Best Regards

Derek

Michael,

Welcome to the Forum and glad to hear you have been enjoying reading here in the past. I always wonder why there are so many people who are "lurkers" just reading and not wanting to contribute or ask questions. But I realize that at some point, we have had a few folks join us and become part of the growing community here. It is nice to have you with us.

My condolences on your semi-finals loss and know the feeling all too well.

Please continue to visit with us and feel free to share or ask anything you feel comfortable with.

Thank you for your kind words!

Roy, in my oppinion the better team won. Neverthless, Klinsmann and the Mannschaft did a great job. And to see the enthousiastic fans from all over the world should be a comfort.

Michael,
Now that your wife has changed her focus to like the vintage ports, you can feel free to buy more and more VP to cellar for the future and you will be a hero! :)

Kurt,
you are describing heaven  . Indeed, knitting her browes shortens. I also tell her, that Port is our "provision for the old age" . As a matter of fact, my purchases are quite modest, especially I would shortly have a storing- problem. But it was lovely to see her beaming of joy about the 2003 Niepoort VP we tasted. My wife has tastefullness :D !
