For The Love Of Port

At a wine dinner held at my brother's home in Golden, CO (home of Coors) Eric and Marijke Menchen joined us for the festivities along with other wine friends. Eric gave my brother a gift of his home crafted beers that he brews. Today my brother mentioned that he finally had the chance to drink the beer. His comment: "Truly exceptional." My brother is a serious Burg-ophile, Port and Madeira enthusiast ... and likes beer too. If Eric ever gives up his day job, I think he has a bright future in a 2nd career.

hmmm...maybe I should go to Erics house to pick up that Port and get a beer or two at the same time....

Been dying to try his beer as well. Sounds like he is a real talent at brewing!

Glad to hear that, and thanks. While I still dream of brewing as a career, right now it would mean giving up my Port budget (and travel, and a lot of other things), so I'll stick with brewing as a hobby. Maybe some day soon I'll get in an intermediate step of some contract brewing. Russ, my Kriek brewed with Odell still might be available at a liquor store near you, and if you make it up this way, we could probably open a bottle or two of something special.

Please bring some with you, next time we get together. I'd really like to check out your brewing talent. My brother is not easily impressed and he went gaga over it.
