warre 85
Wow This one in my opinion is at it's peak which will last at least five years,Bottle number three of a half case purchased some years ago, the last one I opened was three years ago and it was lovely but not quite on the button. My notes are simialar to Roy's but as I said I think it's ready.I'm going to keep an eye out for a case it was that good and is still superb value.(I knew I should have bought that other half case for the sake of ten pounds extra)

I bought a half case of this over the winter from Premeir Cru, for $55/bottle. I had a bottle ~1 month ago and agree it was fantastic. When opening the bottle I thought it was a lost cause; although there were no signs of seepage and the level was high, the cork was "mushy" all the way through
. But all turned out well....I decanted in the morning and we started drinking around ten hours later. In my opinion the wine is at it's peak right now, and was fantastic
! Immediatly the next day I went back to the Premeir Cru site to look for some more, but alas it was all sold out, although I was just at Beltramos in Menlo Park and saw that they had some, although at a premium over what I paid last time.
This was one of the best bottles I have had all year. It's a shame that Warres seems to get not so great press in recent years, but nice for me and others who enjoy it for the low prices.
In various venues, Warres seems to be highly respected in the UK, and less so in the US. I wonder if this a house style preference between reviewers? I would not suggest that the 85 warres is going to last for the next 100 years (or even 15), which may be part of the criteria....but all I can say is that I look forward to buying more Warres at low prices, and drinking my 85 now and 70 warres into the future!
