I've heard mostly v. good things about this restaurant, but would prefer to hear from someone here if possible.

We visited and loved its former location in the West Village (lovely atmosphere, delicious cuisine and notable wine list) and were encouraged when we learned that they had returned to Midtown. But last week's NY Times review of its Midtown reincarnation was mixed. Read it here-

We have yet to visit.

My wife and I ate at the original location three years ago. I remember we both really enjoyed it. Looking at the website, I am amazed by the markups on some of the wines. http://www.alfamanyc.com/index.php?id=6 ... 5f17d726#m That alone is a deterrent to me. I don't remember the markups being this bad last time.

That leaves the question: will they allow you to bring in your own bottles and if so, what would the corkage fee be? [foilhat.gif]

We had dinner there in 2009 when we visited NYC. The markups on the wines were indeed crazy at times, and I remember we liked the food but weren't overly enthusiastic. If you bring your own wine, bring some glasses too, because they were terrible. A good place to eat, but definitely not somewhere you NEED to have been.
