Outside of Portugal's various DOC's, what are your "ultimate" 3 wine regions for drinking?

For me, the answer would be the Cote d'Or, Priorat and Veneto.

Pomerol, Bekaa Valley, Piemonte, and Cote d'Or.

Bordeaux (the cheap stuff), Rioja and Malt Whisky from the demarcated region of Scotland

Bordeaux (the expensive stuff...particularly expensive St. Julien...sadly rarely drunk!), Rhone (particularly for Vacqueyras and Gigondas on the cheaper side). Am then slightly stuck to pick a third that stands out above the others for me, perhaps Champagne because it serves a different purpose!

Wines based on pinot noir or nebbiolo are yet to thrill me...and i fear for the day when i do try one that gives me the taste for it...

Cali Cab's (mainly the older vintages or the more 'old school' producers and love the Santa Cruz Mtns.). Also been drinking more Champagne lately.

Rioja, pretty much anything Rhone, and pretty much anything in all of Italy (sorry, can't narrow that one down further).

I'm taking this to mean, excepting Portugal, what wine regions do I drink from most often. Answer: Alsace (about equally riesling and pinot gris), Chateauneuf-du-pape red, California pinot noir. These are all excellent and affordable food wines (match very well with food I like to eat).

The most often, my go-to regions have been Bordeaux, Alsace and the Mosel (-Saar-Ruwer). That takes nothing away from infrequent "ultimate" wines elsewhere.

As a footnote to my earlier post, it was responded based on actual consumption over the last 25+ years. If I ever get hold of a bottle of top Grand Cru red burgundy (I've tried and love the top whites) or Tokaji Essenzia, that answer may change. Suffice to say for now, those wines, along with some 100+(+) year-old madeira, are high up on my "bucket list".
