2000 Warre LBV Port

Decant: 8 hours - Traditional LBV, bottled 2004. Red-black colour, completely opaque. Very grapey nose, smelling very young. Rich blackcurrant and dark fruit on the palate; lots of morello cherry. A big presence, full of tannins - attractive and powerful. Deep, brooding aftertaste with a dry and tannic finish that fills the mouth and lasts ages. 92 points

I drunk this LBV on 14. and 15. january for the first time. Your impressions are similar to mine. On day 1 (no decanting and drinking over 4 hours) a quite open nose but a pretty closed mouthfeeling dominated by alcohol. On day 2 this LBV shows (although very young) absolut fantastic balance of pure fruit, fine grained tannis, very good supporting acid and well integrated alcohol. Also to mention that the colour is far from indicating any maturity. I agree withyour aging perspective. Your number of 92 is regarding to my scale a bit conservative (although I know that your ratings are quite stingy). To me this LBV offers an extraordinary pleasure, also compared to a solid VP. This could be the most impressive LBV I ever tasted.
