Would be very cool to attend this. I hope a FTLOPer from the NY-NJ area can make it. I was looking at flight options, and unfortunately it appears I would have to fly out Wednesday and return Friday. Wish I could cut one of those days.

I didn't realize they had their own website. I read some of the agoodnose.com stuff a while back.

Here is some more excellent information for those looking to attend or just to learn more about them. Also kudos to their progress on DOC wines:

Accolades for the Douro Boys
in their own native Portugal!

The Portuguese specialised wine magazine, WINE, has published a list of the Portugal’s most exciting wines in their January issue. From a total of 111 “Wines of the Month”, the Douro region is represented with an outstanding number of 54 wines (half the total). Sixteen of the awarded wines are produced by the Douro Boys, with ratings from 17 (superior) to 18 (outstanding) points.

Following international critical acclaim from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker from the United States, as well as the German publication “Weinwirtschaft”, the Douro Boys have also proved themselves as THE pioneers in the quality of Portuguese wines in their home territory.

Accolades:

Quinta Vale D. Maria 2009 Quinta do Vale Dona Maria, Douro Tinto 18
Quinta Vale D. Maria 2009 CV-Curriculum Vitae, Douro Tinto 18
Niepoort 2009 Batuta, Douro Tino 18

Niepoort 2008 Ultreia, Douro Tinto 18
Niepoort 2008 Bioma, Vintage Port 18

The Douro Boys represent the five families Roquette (Quinta do Crasto), Olazábal (Quinta do Vale Meão), van Zeller (Quinta Vale D. Maria), Ferreira (Quinta do Vallado) and Niepoort (Niepoort), who have been committed in promoting the image and reputation of Portuguese wines. They decline the desire to achieve this goal with the use of modern, imported grape varietals and clichés, but rather focus their philosophy on the highest level of quality and authenticity, as well as friendly hospitality.

Their success has been acknowledged nationally in their native Portugal, but more significantly, internationally. Although the Douro Boys are very excited with their growing international acceptance and recognition, they are consciously aware that the basis of their success, is that their continued commitment to quality has also been acknowledged and valued in their homeland.

Since 2003, the Douro Boys; the group formed from highly respected producers of white and red wines, and Port, in the Douro Valley, have been committed to promote the quality and image of Portuguese wines across the world. As a unit, they are the ambassadors abroad, and travel relentlessly throughout all five continents to present and promote the outstanding potential of the Douro Valley wines to connoisseurs and consumers.

From 1 – 3 February 2012, the Douro Boys shall be presenting their wines in New York. From April, all five Douro Boys will tour Asia, starting in Beijing and going to Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau. Fans from South America can look forward to meeting them in July 2012 in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo.
