1952 Kopke Colheita Port

They day started off pretty crappy in that I spilled my coffee my coffee all over the floor as soon as I opened the shop floor. Then I got a call from a rep telling me she had some stuff for me to try. It was the 1952 and 4 other Kopke Colheita's. The color was pretty light in that it had a orange hue and seemed pretty thin. On the nose it was a whole other story with some orange-like citrus grabbing me, loads on steamed nuts and what I thought was mint? Palate was like coating my mouth with a layer of ripe citrus and maybe some cooked caramel. Finish was long and really nice. I only got a 1oz shot of the stuff but it was enough for me to task half of it and save the rest for the rest of the day. Amazing little tawny. I think my better half would shoot me if I picked a few up for the shop and for home. Tasted 5 different Kopke's on Tuesday.

Hi Santo,

I hope you enjoyed Elaine's company and the rest of the Kopke's. This is about as great as any Kopke Colheita gets. Should you ever find yourself fortunate enough to enjoy a bottle over several days, you will likely find that it changes and for the better, after about the 3rd day and becomes even more rich and decadent. A fantastic Kopke and a GREAT Colheita!

So, given that you live or work in Kirkland, why not come and join us for any of our future tastings, we would really like to have you take part in some of our Port activities.

BTW, what is the name of your shop? You have probably mentioned it here before, but if so, I've forgotten. I am in Kirkland frequently and it would be nice for us to meet.

Hi Santo! Older Kopke's are just amazing. These are some of my favorite wines. Epic stuff! You guys in WA are lucky to have access to so much of it.

Yes, a fantastic Colheita that she also shared with some of us at a tasting last time I was up in Seattle. BTW, give a little to your wife and I'm sure you'll quickly be forgiven for buying a bunch of them.
