1995 Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintage Port

This was double decanted back into the rinsed bottle and tasted over 4 days.

Dark purple, almost blackish like eggplant skin but showing some red on the rim. The nose offers blueberry and blackberry fruit with a mint-chocolate aspect giving it depth. Rich, sweet, plum and dark berry fruit dominates the front of the palate and then a burst of acidity surfaces, followed by a wave of spirit that overtakes the fairly long finish. The finish was very hot on the first day and although it's still showing heat after 4 days, it's mellowed out to some extent. Has a lot going for it but the hot finish was a significant drawback. Perhaps it just needs time to come together? 87/88pts, Tasted 3/12

Haven't had it yet but I know it's supposed to be a helluva Port.
