Clueless about this merger from a year ago

Post by Roy Hersh »

OK, sorry to say I just learned yesterday that Justino has taken over Henriques & Henriques about a year ago. I had not heard this before and have to admit, found this quite shocking. [shok.gif]

Did not know either. Was it announced anywhere? Need a scratching head simily.
Aren't their respective lodges on either side of Funchal?

Yes, they are on opposite sides and from what I can tell so far, Justino's is going to let them continue to run things under the H&H name but have put SOME of their own people in place to help run the show.

Any info on this available? Impacts, confirmation of authenticity etc.

Any idea if this will have an impact on H&H politics regarding pricing or availability of their older Frasqueiras?

Hi guys,

As you probably know Martinique had a minor share in H&H before but last year Humberto Jardim sold a majority of his part to the group which now holds a majority of the company. Humberto remains at the company though and runs H&H. They are doing some major changes at H&H, building a tasting room in an old house at the Quinta Grande - to welcome visitors at a more spectacular way and also more close to production.

Also storage facilities are becoming better at H&H premises in Cama de Lobo since they have moved away a part of the production which now can be found up in Canico at Justino's. I saw them myself at the last visit. A new storage room is being built/renovated at Justino's as well.

To my knowledge there were no discussions turning the companies into one. They're so different and with H&H the Martinique group gets an important addition which can't be neglected - visitors, especially to the Quinta Grande part which will be fabulous if Humberto's all plans will become a fact.

All the best,

Niklas
