Bottled in 2011. This has been open for 5 or 6 days now.
Medium red in color with just a trace of tawny at on the rim. It took several days for this to come around. At first it was pretty muted on the nose and the palate and rather hot on the finish. Now the nose has resolved into notes of cherry and fig with touches of orange liqueur and roasted nuts. Moderate intensity and medium body on the palate showing red fruits and spice with a medium length, nutty finish. There's still some heat on the finish but it's smoother than it was the first few days. 89 pts, Tasted 4/12

Re: 2001 Niepoort Colheita
Thanks for the note on this, IIRC this is their newest Colheita release so it's good to hear how it is.
