This will be a great deal for $12. I don't know the exact number of wines they are pouring but Wine Exchange usually tries to have at least 12-14 bottles to taste from. And Rebecca who is a sweet heart as well will be there. I'm going to try and make this if I can get off work a tad early.
AROUND THE WORLD WITH BROADBENT (M) 4:00-6:00
Thursday, April 19
Broadbent Selections is probably best known for Madeira. Most people are unaware, however, that its far reaching portfolio draws meticulously selected wines from Chile, Argentina, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, South Africa, New Zealand, Lebanon and even Virginia. Obviously, we don’t bring in the entire book but we have enough to put together one outstanding midweek tasting. Spy Valley, Château Musar, Quinta do Crasto, Parés Balta Cava and Barboursville Cabernet Franc(Virginia) are a few of the things we’ll be pouring. Rebecca Mahmoud, of Broadbent, will be on hand to guide people through the interesting and diverse line-up. Cost is $12.00.

Sounds like a blast! I'm going to see if I can make it down there next week and try a few more of their wines.

Yeah I really want to try some other things in their Portfolio as well since it's there are some very solid producers in it. Baring something major at work I should be there. Hope you can make it.

Too bad they don't still have the JM Fonseca Setubals.

For those that missed this, it was a very good tasting. Lots of good wine but the 1994 Chateau Musar stole the show.

Doesn't it always? 1994 Musar is a stunner! I wish it was still offered by the Chateau.

That's odd. We had a huge Musar offering from Broadbent last fall via our local distributor and the catalog went back to 1960. They did not offer 1994 and was one of the only 90's vintages not offered. I had asked them specifically on getting a case of this is well. These bottles were being shipped from the Chateau too, none were in US at the point of offering.

Broadbent is the importer. The distributor out here is Epic and I believe that is where they came from as their rep was at the tasting as well. Gotta love the 3-tier system

Ahh, we have Epic in this part of the woods too. I think I taught one of their employees about beer in a class.

Considering how large their portfolio is I wouldn't doubt that. Most I've found only know the basics about Port, with a few more knowledgeable. In their defense, it would be almost impossible to be an expert in all that they carry.

True. In his defense, the Epic employee was taking classes to learn.
