Again, another huge experience with a Fajã dos Padres
1870 Fajã dos Padres Malvazia (19.5/20)
Tasting Note: Brown amber. Oh my god, what an intensity here, so complex. Asian Spices, honey, incense, sea breeze. So crips, so alive for a 142 years old wine.
Huge structure, dense texture and huge acidity. Lovely balance between. So long and tasty. Mind blowing.
Tasted May/12

Hi Joao and welcome back.
I will be visiting Faja with our group in early June and can't wait to get back to Madeira and see that wild vineyard!
Can you please remind me of the two names of the guys that were at the ViniPortugal event in 2011, both of whom were from IVBAM and brought that handful of 1943's. Thanks. Better yet, if you wouldn't mind to please email it to me: roy@fortheloveofport.com
In return, I will send you something I have a feeling you will really like!
Best regards and thanks for popping in here again. You've been missed. Sorry to not see you this year in Santarem (last week). How was it?

Hello Roy,
I've been here, but only reading.
Visiting the Fajã? Awesome. Someone will release soon a Wine from there. I just can't wait to have it.
Roy, do you mean the event in the IVV, just before Santarém, were we putted that line up of Madeiras?
Haven't been there this year too.

Yes, that was the only time I've met you. Do you remember their names. I believe one was Amerigo?
I have one bottle of 1950 Faja dos Padres Terrantez open and was sipping it last night, I have one glass left, and one more bottle. Over the years, I have brought two of them back to Madeira to share with the current owner of the property, because I had learned earlier, he had never tried these. He gathered his entire family for the experience, to try this incredible nectar. He literally was speechless and very touched the first time. I was thrilled to be able to share this with them (both times). I may open my last one there on my 10th anniversary of our first visit to that property. An amazing place to experience.
