1977 Dow’s – Rare Silver Jubilee label
I decanted this for 90 minutes, then poured this back into the now clean original bottle. We drank it 3 hours later. Deep strawberry red body with a clear rim. Plenty of fine wild herb and spices on the nose. Still youthful at 29 years old, with waves of focused fresh dates, well integrated alcohol. This bottle showed extremely well and must be around the 10th bottle I have drunk in the last 5 years. 95/100.

Good to hear from you Nicos - especially as I have 4 of these babies in my wine cooler
Have you tasted that PX yet? The Niepoort 92's are waiting on cooler weather but I'll be sure to let you know when I get around to opening one.

Great TN my friend. One of the great VPs and unsung heros from the 1977 vintage. It never disappoints and will more than likely outlive me. When do you believe it will reach maturity? Every one I have opened has been a mere youngster.

Roy,
Thank you! I believe it needs another 15+ years to hit full maturity. I am trying to hold off my remaining bottles, but it is NOT easy!
Derek,
Now that the cold weather is here in London (bloody summer!), I cracked open a PX last week with my tasting group. It was well received, though others preferred a 1970 Vintage PX I opened after it. Thanks for the swap! :)

Agreed. An excellent wine! I recently bought more from the UK (es-fine wines) and even the leakers were superb!

I've got a magnum I'm holding on for at least a decade or three, and a special occasion. Well, ok, drinking it will be the special ocassion.
