A friend who works at a local wine store brought this and the H&H 15 Year Verdelho over for us to try. So I guess you could call this a mini-Madeira tasting.
There was no "5" on this label, so I assume this was an older bottling since their website now lists it as a 5 Year Old Full Rich. A dark maple brown color with reddish high-lighting. Scents of light varnish and sweet maple. Soft and sweet brown sugar, cloves, and light VA up front boarders on being too sweet. Then a big whack of searing acidity at just the right moment gives it the perfect amount lift. A nice entry level easy sipping Madeira.
